The Sing-Off presents the historic, pure art of acapella in a clever, evolved, ever changing form. As a musician and educator I firmly believe that The Sing-Off is a must for television. The money and time put into producing this show is well worth it. The Sing-Off presents free music education, it encourages an appreciation of the voice(s), different voices working together. Unlike other shows like other talent shows, The Sing-Off doesn't distort or pervert the art of music, nor is it hung up on mainstream and dumbing things down. The Sing-Off's honest philosophy has similarities to the purity of pro wrestling (not Sports Entertainment) in the sense that The Sing-Off is about showcasing the best, rewarding the best, and it doesn't rely on smoke screens. Since being on TV, the show has helped preserve the art of acapella and spread it's awareness worldwide.

Acapella dates back to the early church and it's one of the most universal forms of music in the world. Acappella is sung amongst African tribes, throughout the Pacific Islands in the churches, even at house parties. There's something beautiful and spiritual when you don't need the sound of an instrument cuing or accompanying a group of singers who co-exist through pure harmony.

NBC may have canceled The Sing-Off, however ABC has the option of taking the show elswhere. A petition was put up earlier today, I've signed it. I hope anyone else reading this who understands where I'm coming from will sign it as well.
