I agree with Goldenboy, I havn't seen a great deal of ROH or Japanese action, but I know I've probably missed alot of excellant match, but the one thing with these list, that if a match is on the list that I've not seen I probably will check it out

Oh this should be fun. I'm glad to see some of the legendary AJPW matches on your list Roman. If the final result of this doesn't have at least 5 AJPW matches in the top 50, I'm going to have to call foul. I'll post my list tomorrow hopefully.

One match that I suggest everyone rewatch is CM Punk vs. Kane on Sci-Fi 6/3/08. It's on youtube. This match is likely going to be somewhere between 45-50 for me. I have NO idea how WWE let this type of match take place but this was something straight outta All Japan. The opening sequence was great with them immediately establishing Kane's size is going to make him vastly superior, but without taking anything away from Punk. The smile Kane gives when Punk is forced to roll out of the ring in the first minute of the match is great. You can feel his confidence shoot up 100% right there. From there they worked monster heel vs. talented babyface the entire match but so much differently from your typical WWE match. Punk was clearly outmatched here, but he wasn't going to give up. Even in between pin/submission attempts Punk would try to punch or kick Kane from the mat; scrambling to make something happen in his favor. Yet each time it was to no avail. Kane was methodical working over Punk's back/rib, in order to make it more difficult for Punk to lift the big man up for the GTS. And in the end it worked for Kane as Punk hoisted him up for the GTS and could not pull the move off. The storytelling wasn't the only thing going for this match, they also had fantastic pacing. It was so good that the fans popped HUGE for a sunset flip pin attempt; when was the last time you remember that happening? Two guys who had a match with no build and no history put on a MOTY on the WWE's C show that had the fans rocking. That's pretty damn impressive. For me this was clearly Punk's best match in WWE and surpassed a lot of his ROH stuff.

I began watching in '88, the Iron Man Match is awesome, but there's so much ground to cover before and after 1996. I thought HBK/Bret was good, but when you take into consideration what matches other promotions past and present have to offer, HBK/Bret (for me) isn't top 10 material, at least on my list.

I find the WM12 main event one of those matches that is slighly overated.... don't get me wrong here it was good... very good.... just not sensational. As the match lasted 62 minutes, there were many slow periods using resting holds (both wrestlers catching their breath).... but in this Iron Match there was just one measley fall.... and that came in overtime. Had Shawn won 5 falls to 4 with various pinning/submission combinations..... rather than 1 fall to 0, there would have been alot more talking points and climatic moments throughout the 60 minute period... and consequently more pops from the crowd.

The ironman match between Bret and Shawn is one of the more over rated main events I can remember. I think that some fans put it on a pedestal simply because of the outcome and the history surrounding the pair. I dont think Bret was on song in the match and it was one of his worst performances in terms of selling. He didnt really give Michaels an inch. I wouldnt put this match in the top ten of either wrestlers careers.

Most of the matches on people's lists are earlier than 1996, so I am not sure where you was going with that comment. I too felt like their Ironman match was over rated, it wasn't a horrible match but to say that it surpasses all as being the very best match of all time is going a few steps too far.
