Default Report: Triple H vs. Undertaker In Talks for WrestleMania

    Source: Wrestlinginc.com

-- Providing that The Undertaker is healthy enough to compete in a singles match at WrestleMania XXVII, there has been talk of "The Deadman" facing his opponent at WrestleMania X-Seven, Triple H.

Shawn Michaels as the bout's special guest referee has also been discussed. He recently stated that he reached a new contractual agreement with WWE, but would not be returning the ring as a wrestler. He did not, however, rule out special appearances or becoming an on-air character at some point.
    ----------------
Not that it wouldn't be a good match, but what would happen to HHH/Sheamus or Taker/Kane/Barrett?

oh man, a hundy says if this happens, Trips ends up winning

on another note, why hasnt taker faced Cena at wrestlemania yet? seems like it would be a match made in heaven.

I'd much rather watch the Wrestlemania 17 match instead.

I bet they're saving it for the big 20-0.

And Manwithoutaface, I completely agree. They couldn't top their WM 17 match and don't need to. It was awesome. Taker has only ever faced his most significant opponents twice at Mania: Kane and HBK. While I would enjoy another feud between these two, another Mania match is not needed.

Anytime Shawn Michaels has been the special referee in a HHH match, he's screwed-over HHH's opponent. I don't like it.

Maybe next year if both men are healthy enough, this could be interesting on one condition. Triple H turns heel.

Man, this will not be a good match. Both are at the end of their careers, and can not go as compared to their match a decade ago, and you know people will be expecting it to be.

What would they be fighting over, who has the bigger return? Who's less injury prone? Who's going to retire first? Who can bury more wrestlers careers?

You try wrestling at their age and we'll see how long you can make it without getting injured...

And they've both made multiple more careers than they've buried.

F4W has made no mention of this whatsoever. According to them, current plans are (and have been since the Lesnar blowoff) for Wade Barrett to get the nod. They even reported that Taker was recently backstage at a SD taping and he was talking to the bookers about getting Barrett more heat and build before Mania.

Yes, because Meltzer knows everything and if he didn't report it it never was spoken about. How about doing us a favor, instead of attempting to debunk everything posted here that hasn't been spoken by the dirt sheet god, post on the actual subject and add to the thread.

This reminds me of a great Stone Cold promo. They're gonna have a geritol on a pole match! and yes the streak to me is sacred, but nobody wants to see glory hog grave digging HHH go against an old broken down Taker. please no.

Gotta give me another 23 years then. Sorry I have to keep you waiting buddy. (Clearly a joke)

Either way, this match would be boring as hell to see. Then again, any match with Undertaker at Mania is.

LMAO, sorry to apparently piss in your cornflakes NDX. I didn't say Meltzer was right or wrong, I just said there was no mention of this there and that they were talking about WWE doing something else. I'm not trying to "debunk everything I read" I'm expanding the topic. Triple H -vs- Taker doesn't interest me, Wade does.

Jesus, I didn't know people's panties were in such knots around here Oh great and powerful moderator.

Yes, Veritas is Truth. Veritas means truth and is the goddess of truth in Roman Mythology.

Now that that is out of the way, a match between Triple H and Undertaker at this stage in their careers wouldn't be worth a spot at Mania. Both guys are good and I'm a fan of both but this wouldn't be a good way to follow up the past two years of Taker vs. Michaels. Then again Barrett vs. Taker isn't a good follow up either but would be better than Triple H and Undertaker. At least with Barrett involved you have a young guy benefiting from a feud with Taker.

Taker would eat him up for breakfast at wrestlemania. I hope that doesnt happen..... Wade wouldnt have a chance in ending the streak..... Taker would bury him, and there would be nothing for Wade to benefit from.

Nobody says Wade has to end the streak and nobody says Taker's going to bury him. Orton didn't beat Taker at Mania either but he still came out of the match looking better than he did going in. Wins and losses don't really matter in todays wrestling scene and a guy losing at Mania in what is promoted as a big time match isn't always a death sentence. Barrett didn't beat Cena once cleanly in their feud did he? And I don't think we can argue that he's not a star.

Yes Taker would win at Mania, but the positive is that Barrett would feud with him leading up to Mania. A feud like that for Barrett and The Corre would be a good starting point for them as a group on Smackdown. Barrett isn't going to end the streak but they wouldn't have Taker completely bury Barrett at Mania. There would be a couple of near falls in there where the fans won't think Taker will kick out, then he does and the place goes bananas.. b..a..n..a..n..a..s!! Barrett would get in a significant amount of offense and have several near falls just like Michaels the past two years. And who knows maybe Taker will give Barrett the rub at the PPV after Mania by letting him win. Unlikely, but possible. And like Veritas said, wins and losses aren't so important now days.

Gosh you've got it all mapped out! lol
Yeah its not all about wins and losses..... its how you win! If Taker no-sells and crushes him it could seriously harm Wades career.... (ie like DDP) if he decides to make Wade look competitive it could help Wade win some respect.... but that would be down to Taker

But how many people has Taker truly made to look like crap in a match? Especially at Mania? And especially when it comes to WWE picked guys? If WWE put Barrett in the ring with Cena and Orton and both made him look competent, I don't doubt Taker will do the same.

I don't see Undertaker no-selling against anyone at Mania. WrestleMania is the one event of the year that Taker goes one hundred percent and I'd be willing to bet that if Barrett and Taker wrestle at Mania, Taker does everything he possibly can to make Barrett look good.

Is this honestly a worry for you?? You think that Undertaker, one of the smartest and most respected men in wrestling history, would no-sell his opponent at WRESTLEMANIA??

No, Taker would get the absolute best match he could out of anyone, even if it was Mike Adamle in there.

But Taker VS Barrett?? Please God no.... The Undertaker's match is always the biggest draw for Mania nowadays, he needs to go up against someone HUGE in a match the audience will truly get thirsty for. Barrett STILL isn't over as a legit star. A feud with Taker to help him would indeed be great, but NOT AT MANIA!! What a drop from a double whammy of Shawn Michaels.... Wade Barrett.

Taker VS any of Kane, Triple H or John Cena would be far better drawing-wise, and alot more exciting than.... Wade Barrett.
