Randy Savage's intensity is too much for CM Punk. I see Punk getting overwhelmed. If Punk ever made a pass at Liz in real life, Macho would end his life. Randy Savage is too much of a world class wrestler and flamboyant character for Punk. Punk comes across as someone who isn't easily budge, that's until he gets in the ring with the Madness.

Punk is a great star, but he is a young star. Savage is just too good, and too experienced for Punk right now. Maybe we can revisit this in 5-6 years and see where it leads, but as of now, Savage for the win.

'86 Savage still would've mauled '11 Punk to an inch of his life.

    They're are in different leagues.

    But in my opinion.

    Power: Macho Man
    Endurance: Macho Man
    Speed: Punk
    Charisma: Macho Man
    Believability: Punk
    Technique: Punk
    Martial Arts/Striking: Punk
    Consistency: Macho Man

Man, this looks even in my books....Alright something don't normally judge by...

    Biggest Pop: Macho Man

Macho Man, but if CM Punk had a woman by his side I think the tables would be turned.

Has CM Punk vs Raven happened?

CM Punk is one of the more notable wrestlers of the current era.... but against Savage he is facing one of the greatest ever.

Randy was one of the most intense wrestlers ever, with a fierce offence, and wrestled with his heart on his sleeve. Pure emotion.
Savage was an all rounder.... excellent worker, top drawcard, fantasic promos, impressive build, equally believeable as a beloved babyface or a mega heel.
    This guy had it all.

    Punk gets overwhelmed.

Wait, this is even a question? Macho all the way. I see him not burying Punk, but obliterating him on the mic. And in the ring, whether it be dirty tricks, overwhelming him, or turning the crowd on him, Macho has it again. Punk may be the better technical wizard, but that can only get you so far. Punk is good, but Macho is a great, and Punk just doesn't have what it takes.
It's time for your weekly beating!

Just for the sake of discussion, I'm gonna go ahead and give my two cents. While I've never been the biggest fan of Savage, I do admit that he brought an almost unrivaled intensity to his matches and promos and he was an innovative wrestler for his time. But, as I said, innovative "for his time", and things always have a habit of evolving over time. While Savage can take to the air and brawl, CM Punk can do it better. In addition to high-flying, CM Punk is well-versed in multiple martial arts that involve striking and grappling and he is just as capable of using his cunning as Macho would in a match; I do NOT see this being a good, clean fight by any stretch. As far as mic skills go, again, I'll have to pick Punk. Asides from snapping into Slim Jims and going "OOOHHHHH YYYYEEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!", he just never really wowed me in the promo department. Punk, on the other hand, can really play the crowd. He can make you either love him or detest him with every fiber of your being. Punk presses buttons, and knows how to get into the opponent's head; Macho Man can point randomly and growl at he wants, but Punk can find a way to trip him up. The only real things that Macho would have going for him over Punk is the fact that he's more resilient and arguably more agile.

So, how would this match go, all things considered? A bit hard to truly decide, but here goes: In the beginning of the match, Macho Man has CM Punk on the ropes. Usual grappling and brawling. However, despite having the momentum early on and the crowd being fully behind him, Macho finds himself reeling from the schooled offense from the Second City Saint firsthand. The next several minutes would be Punk displaying his technical superiority over Savage, catching him with kicks and elbows, with a dash of unique submissions. CM Punk's striking game is on full display here, as he overwhelms Macho Man. However, despite the punishment CM Punk delivers, Macho always kicks out and always gets back up, and Macho eventually starts to deliver a comeback. Once again, with momentum on his side, Macho Man digs deep and brings the pain to Punk courtesy of his jabs and flying Double Axe Handle, which only results in a near-fall. It comes down to a full-fledged brawl, with neither men getting the upper hand, until Macho goes for a clothesline - Which Punk ducks, allowing himself to twist Macho Man around and deliver a vicious Go 2 Sleep out of nowhere. Which only gets Punk a near-fall for his troubles.

Visibly overcome by frustration over not putting Macho away with his signature move, Punk decides to go onto the top-rope and do his own Diving Elbow Drop whilst Macho lies in the middle of the ring. However, it is clear that the match has taken a toll on Punk, as he struggles to set himself up in time, giving Macho some time to come to his senses. Seeing what Punk's about to do from the corner of his eye, Macho flings himself against the ropes with a sudden burst of energy, causing Punk to get straddled on the top-rope. Macho uses the chance to grab Punk and toss him onto the mat, giving Macho the time to climb up top........And hit his signature Diving Elbow Drop......BUT, Punk rolls away, and Macho crashes and burns. With Macho Man down, Punk jumps on him like a hungry wolf and traps him in the dreaded Anaconda Vise. While Macho Man puts up whatever fight he has left in him, he has no choice but to tap.

    Wrestling Ability: Draw
    Move Set: CM Punk
    Charisma: CM Punk
    Slim Jims: Macho Man

    WINNER (via Submission): CM PUNK

it is a tad harsh to claim a current wrestler has a greater moveset than an 80s star. Each moveset eneds to be judged within its timeframe and not against each other. Remember that Savages moveset was from a time before wrestling was spoiled by virgin nerds that bring notebooks to shows, trying to evaluate every little thing that happens in the ring as though they have done a wrestling degree at university. Savage competed at a time when a ddt meant so much more than a ddt means now. A piledriver ended a feud, not just started a match.

To say that neither man would get the upper hand in a fully fledged brawl is ridiculous, Savage would have destroyed Punk if that were the case. Savage brawled with bigger guys all the time, he brawled with Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan to name just a couple. The guy was able to hang with Ric Flair in a believable way. Punk wouldnt even get to set the ring up for this sort of match, let alone hold his own against one of them.

I've never seen a piledriver in the first minute of a match, but apart from that, completely agree with you.

it was an exaggeration used to explain my point. I meant that moves we were once familiar with as finishers, are now just standard moves. A ddt is basically the same now as a bodyslam was back then.

I know. It was just an observation.

I hate it myself, but sometimes it makes for an interesting match when the opponent sells it properly yet doesn't make the bell ring.
Its refreshing to see the innovated moves from over 20 years ago still being used today.

yes but in this instance, when you are comparing guys from different eras, you need to take this evolution into account.

CM Punk has tried to get cheap pops by using Savage's top rope elbow drop. This move should not be viewed as on par with Randy's version (even though identical) because when Randy used it, fans hadnt been desenstized to it yet, it had more of an impact on the viewer and played a bigger role in telling the story.

Again I agree with you. Hell I voted for Macho Man all that time ago.
But I think that's a bad example, as a top rope elbow drop is still viewed as effective, same as a top rope body splash (well its mainly a Frog Splash instead but still)
And I agree that Punk is using it for cheap pops but other people do copy moves as a tribute to their idol, and I don't think a tribute is cheapening the move to newer viewers by a long shot.

CM Punk freeloads of Macho Man's death just like Rey Mysterio freeloaded off Eddie Guerrero's.

I would be torn if this happened, i love Punk for his technical ability, but i love Savage for his mic work, his intensity, and his skill. Savage was a very believable wrestler for his time. I would say good back and forth action, but in the end Savage wins, with a flying elbow off the top. We get a moment of respect from Savage to Punk.
