Hawk and Ricky Morton's Single Runs With Flair

I was wondering if any JCP fans can comment more on this. In the mid '80s, Road Warrior Hawk and Ricky Morton were put in a series of World Title matches with the champ, Ric Flair. Was the office experimenting with Hawk and Morton being single wrestlers in hopes of having either or both wrestlers leave their respective tag teams?

I remember both pretty well actually. As Flair had worked tag teams with both. Hawk and Morton were no doubt the charisma of their teams. I loved the Flair/Morton series as both could talk. At the time, I think it was just to see what guys in top tag teams could do with the champ between major feuds. With the Warriors and R n R Express being top draws as well, I don't think JCP would have ever split either team.
