- WWE Announcer Michael Cole has been told to play more of a babyface role lately. Cole was specifically told to lay off Jim Ross and keep the insults down after Ross returned to replace Jerry Lawler while he is recovering.

*rolls eyes* there's a difference between playing a heel and simply insulting everyone.

Still, it worked, with Jerry having to take time off due to a heart attack no one wants to see the announcers arguing or being petty.

That is the exact reason Cole comes across as annoying to most people. There is no rhyme or reason to his attitude. He hasn't been given a bigger picture, for us to understand why he insults people. He makes no sense.

Cole has been ridiculed for years and years.... and more often than not, rightfully so.

However I do credit him for what must have been a very difficult situation, keeping his compose when Jerry suffered the heart attack right beside him.
Maybe Cole coming out of this with credit, and the fact that he dropped his character whilst giving us updates on Jerrys condition/ intervewing him by satallite.... has prompted WWE to change the way they tell him to come across to the wrestling audience
