Default CM Punk Attacks Fan at Conclusion of Raw

    Source: WrestlingNewsSource.com

During the conclusion of Monday's WWE Raw, CM Punk jumped into the crowd to escape from an enraged Ryback and gives a fan an elbow and punch, which can be seen in videos on Youtube

Update 1: As reported in our last post, WWE Champion CM Punk hit a fan twice during the conclusion of Monday's Raw in Sacramento, California. WWE fan Daniel Snyder tweeted: "I was there! Fan to the left kept pushing punk then someone pushed his head! He was swinging for the fences bro!" While all this was taking place Vince McMahon was in the ring cutting a promo a WWE cameras were flipping between McMahon and Punk. At one stage McMahon paused and gave a shocked looked at the scene transpiring before him...if this was not a fan plant then WWE will have a PR nightmare on their hands, possibly even legal action.

Update 2: The fan who was struck by CM Punk on tonight’s WWE Raw is to take legal action according to Arda Ocal of The Score. Ocal tweeted:

"Local CBS reporter @colereporting, who was at RAW, spoke to man claiming to be the fan hit by CM Punk. He filed a report with Police."

The fan told Laura Cole of CBS 13 that he never touched WWE Champion Punk. Cole tweeted photos of the fan following the event (below), she said: "Just talked to the fan that says he was hit by @cmpunk. He says he never hit Punk. ... This fan says his face is a little warm after he says @cmpunk hit him. He also says Punk broke his glasses. ... The fan is still filling out a report with law enforcement. ... Getting questions about whether the fan I talked to actually hit @cmpunk. All I can do is report what the fan told me."

Take your judgment. Did Punk warn people to stop touching him? it appears so in the video. did he get shoved? it appears so in the video. did he hammer the wrong guy? it appears so in the video. I, myself, am thinking Punk is probably going to drop the title ASAP, now, and be suspended as soon as he loses it, and probably will never sniff the main event ever again. Maybe I'm overreacting, but with Linda running for Senate again, this will be all sorts of a nightmare for her campaign. What have you?

Freakin hope not he had a few fans there shove him and I'm almost positive the guy behind him shoved him in the head and considering the crap Randy Orton has gotten away with in the past it would be double standard big time.

It looks to me like the guy that got hit actually forearmed Punk twice. Now whether or not he was pushed from behind, I can't tell.

The guy that got punched by Punk first hit him in the back/shoulder area and Punk turned and looked like he said something to him The forearm to the head was not accidental as it looks like he had lots of room to put his glasses on without hitting Punk. It looked like a reached elbow shot. I think Punk will be fine with this outcome and will still be champ for a bit longer. The is no need to ever touch a wrestling superstar period. They are there to entertain us and no one has the right to touch them especially push/shove or elbow them. Treat them with respect villain or hero.

I am with Punk on this one. The guy was just being a jerk, and he had it coming. I can't blame Punk for losing his patience level.

Security should of had Punk's back covered

It's unclear exactly what happened, the guy hit Punk but it's hard to tell if it were on purpose or not. It's clear someone really shoved or even hit Punk but it's not clear who. Punk clearly knocked the guy over but it's not totally clear if he just shoved him or hit him.

It looks like someone kept shoving Punk who then turned around and said something to the guy he hit who was next to the guy that actually shoved/hit Punk. However after this the guy who Punk hit slapped Punk's head (by accident or on purpose isn't clear) which is what triggers Punk and far as Punk knows it was all this guy not the guy next to him. Which is understandable, he can't see what's happening behind him, someone hits him or shoves him, he turns around see's the he later hits and it looks like it was him, this guy then slaps Punk's head.

To me though it looks like Punk hit the guy, which isn't on. It's not obvious that he was under attack so he should have kept his cool. But again, security should have been watching his back, there weren't any to be seen. Anything can happen behind him and he won't know what's going on, he was fine from the front he stayed in character and swatted away the crowds hands but there were no security keeping control it was all down to Punk who couldn't see what was happening behind him because he had to be involved with what was going on story wise. Again, someone should have watched his back, because obviously Punk can't watch his own.

I think the guy in the black T-Shirt shoves Punk once at 0.35 (who doesn't react physcially at first) and then he foreams Punk at 0.41.
If this isn't a plant.... it should be interesting.
Even in the days of a publically 'worked show' it shows some people still get caught up in it all..... so maybe having your top heel mix it up in the crowds wasn't a wise decision

However it was a plant... i'm sure they'd have caught it on RAW..... the RAW cameras were focusing on Vince talking in the ring

Watching it again I think you're right Goldy. Shortly before 0.35 someone else shoves Punk, but yes at 0.35 it looks like the guy in the black t-shirt shoved him. Then at 38 the guy black t-shirt defininetly hits Punk's head, though whether it's on purpose or accident isn't clear.

The WWE have pretty much set up Punk/Rock at the Rumble already, so I can see them fighting tooth and nail to protect Punk up until the rumble. Once he drops the belt to the Rock he may never see the belt again. To be honest this can probably be settled with a settlement, money the WWE won't even miss so maybe there won't be much backlash.

but, I'm reading a few people think it was the guy BEHIND sunglasses guy that was hitting Punk. and that, when it looked like Sunglasses Guy hit Punk, it was the guy behind him shoving Punk, with his arm getting caught up in Punk's head. IDK what the hell to believe right now.

...thank god I knew to put a video on here, lol.

Being bored at work and vanity searching on Twitter, sometimes strikes gold. This was one of those rare occasions, as the fan who slapped CM Punk hard on his shoulder, a guy by the name of Dario Teyes, who caused a confused Punk to spin round and lamp a completely innocent bystander, is unfortunately a reader of ours and has used our coverage to brag about his role in the controversy:

What an a--hole! I hope WWE takes note of his public admission of going out of his way to mess with their performers on a regular basis, not just Punk, and ban him from all future WWE events in Sacramento.

yeah, I edited it, had no choice. But, congrats moron, you just cost yourself a clean getaway, and MAY have cost this guy his lawsuit, since it turns out Punk WAS provoked

This guy's a freaking moron, admitting to this online. This really goes to show that Punk should of had security watching his back, this guy was punching him in the dam kidneys. Honestly I don't think Punk is at fault any more, getting punched in the kidneys can be serious, you can't just stand there and let it happen and of course Punk doesn't have eyes in the back of his head so how is he to know who hit him? The guy with the glasses appeared to inadvertently hit Punk's head so from Punk's point of view that was the third strike and then he hit back. If only this idiot got what was coming to him rather than the guy with the glasses.

Again security should not have allowed this, they should have been behind Punk to stop anyone from attacking him, instead he was left to fend for himself when under the circumstances he couldn't even see what was happening. This wouldn't have happened if security were where they needed to be, at the very least the innocent guy wouldn't have been hit.

I think people are over thinking this in general. He was getting hit, he responded to defend himself. If some random person on the street got punched and pushed around, they are allowed to defend themselves. All the politically correct crap is ridiculous. If the wrong person got hit that's unfortunate, and saying that, both the WWE and Punk have apologized to him. But to go solely off what we saw on Raw is misguided because the camera kept cutting away. A lot can happen in those seconds the camera wasn't on him in the crowd. And the dude that tried to whine to the reporter and say he did nothing and was attacked dropped his charges, which kind of let's us know he wasn't completely faultless either. What most likely happened was some ass was trying to provoke Punk, and others joined in thinking "aww this is fun. Let's see what we can get away with."

I agree with everyone saying security was at fault for being poorly placed. I find it hard to believe they had no idea Punk was going in the crowd, so they should have been where they should have been. But there are a lot of people (not here) trying to put the blame on Punk saying he's a professional and shouldn't have reacted. I'm sorry idiot pc people with no spine, but he was being attacked. So if someone was punching him in the head he should have done nothing? Get out of here with that ludicrous way of seeing the world. I'm shocked Punk let the get multiple shots in before retaliating. And I's proud he still turned around and finished the segment PROFESSIONALLY.

If people would stop with the babysitting and excuse making for these idiots that do this cowardly crap, maybe they could get some common sense beaten into them. Don't hit people that have been trained to fight. If people know there are consequences, they won't act like idiots. I miss the old days where if a fan got in the ring to try a wrestler, they got dealt with accordingly. Youtube has some great moments of it. I remember one where Savage went ballistic and security not only had to get rid of the fan but also save the same fan from Savage haha!! Now he would be fined and suspended for it. For protecting himself and his coworkers. You never know what's on the mind of the fan and what their intentions are.

TNA star Bully Ray recently spoke with The Buckethead Show on Real Radio 104.1 in Orlando, FL. One of the topics discussed was CM Punk attacking a fan on Raw this past Monday night.

"It was an unfortunate accident. It was a heat of the moment-type thing. It's happened many times before. It really was an accident, I'm glad that the fan realizes that it wasn't meant for him. It just happens, it's really not that big of a deal. Nobody got hurt."
