DX explodes! however though this fued was done to death in the mid 2000s .... Tripper never faced a prime Shawn Michaels from the mid 90s.

The Triple H from 2002 agaisnt the Shawn Michaels from 1995/96

Who progresses to the Semi Finals? and why?

    SHAWN, Easiest choice for me.

In their primes Shawn was leaps and bounds beyond HHH. While HHH had the skill and power to take down Shawn he was more fool cocky. He'd think he had the match in the bag and go for the Pedigree while Shawn plays possum leading to a roll up of split second SCM.

Just like how HBK lost the Euro Title to HHH in '97, I see HHH returning the favour by throwing himself over the top rope for his buddy.

The Showstopper all the way for me.
Shawn in his prime.... was the top guy in the WWE.... in 1996 for example the whole company evolved around him.
Tripper has never had that.... Austin, Rock, Foley were ahead of him in the late 90s/early 2000s.... and in more recent times I'd put the likes of Lesnar and Cena above Tripper.... despite the ruthless strings Tripper has pulled over the years.

Tripper may have defeated a past his prime Shawn in contests... but a peak Shawn is too fast, too agile and too smart for Tripper.
Against a prime Shawn.... Tripper remembers who the Master was and who the Student was.... develops an inferiority complex thinking its 1997 and eats some Sweet Chin Music

This is easy, HBK has got this in the bag, 1995 was prime for HBK and his speed, agilty and technical factor overides power, strength and aggression. I think if you put triple H and HBK togather at the peek of HBK prime, HBK would of washed over HHH.

HHH prime was after HBK back injury which then made him less able. Which would of been a handicap for HBK, So HHH would of washed over HBK but with an unfair advantage.

Today it would again be match for match as HHH and HBK have both lost to there Former selves with both having strings of success and strings of turbelant times, although HBK would still lapse more because of the nature of his injury
