It's not about agreeing...in fact I like the disagreements but it's the fact of HOW people go about it and literally destroy a post. It just an idea and who would benefit from it, nothing to debate about...period. Stop using the excuse that no one would benefit from breaking the streak it's so passe and outdated...just except the fact that with all the whining that everyone has done to end the streak and then revert to saying no one would benefit leads me to believe that you actually want the streak to continue....now how ass-backwards does that seem, not much more than someone suggesting that people could benefit from breaking the streak.

Let's face it ......any wrestler on the roster would benefit from beating The Undertaker at Wrestlemania . It doesn't matter who it is . But the fact is , it's never gonna happen . Full stop .

Not true whoever it is that may beat him has to be a guy they are going to push as a top heel who will be loyal to the E and most likely he will never be face again established guys like HHH, Lesnar etc don't need the win.

I think the benefit would be there for a guy like Barrett to beat Taker but I think that he wouldnt benefit as much as he would from even losing to Punk. I dont believe Taker is active enough to really give a strong rub anymore. Kids that the show is geared towards have grown up watching The Undertaker work once or twice a year. He simply doesnt have the main stream attraction that is needed in order to keep heat whilst away for extended periods of time. He isnt the Rock and he isnt Brock. In order for Taker to have a good match, he needs every other performer on the card (barring his opponent) to dilute their matches in order for his to APPEAR as though it is match of the night. I firmly believe that Wrestlemania is an undewhelming event nowadays because guys like Daniel Bryan need to be jobbed out in 8 seconds just incase they had a match more memorable than Taker does.

I think you have definitely put forward interesting scenarios but I think anything that they do now will be a matter of too little too late.

There are a few variables to take into consideration first. How they win would be a factor, if its by dq or countout then no one benefits, if its by submission then only wrestlers that have that sort of style would be able to benefit to the full potential, if it's by pinfall then as long as it's done cleanly and decisive then anyone could potentially benefit. The other thing to take into consideration is the aftermath of the win. If WWE hype up the fact and use it to give someone a mega push then there could be endless benefit to the person to get the win. But if they do a Shelton Benjamin/Carlito style of push then it'll have all been for nothing.

Having done several topics over the years about takers streak and/or the state of WrestleMania. And I would argue that by this point in The Undertaker's career that a win wouldn't mean as much as it did 10 years ago. WrestleMania hasn't been as big since the early twenties. (I blame the MITB match). The streak has lost momentum since it started being booked as The Streak. All WrestleMania's prior to 21 were booked as a rivalry, and therefore the streak represented The Undertaker getting the nod at the biggest show to beat his rival. Any that were booked as the streak (bar Randy Orton) were done with lazy booking and had no rivalry built into it. The streak used have meaning when it was the secondary factor in the matches, but when it became the primary factor it started to overshadow the actual significance and became just another statstic. The combination of The Undertaker's age, the downgraded state of WM, and the lack of significance in the streak, means that anyone who beats The Undertaker won't get as much of a push as they would have done ten years ago.

Taking all this into consideration, the one who would benefit the most is The Undertaker. The streak overshadows the rest of his career. An amazing HOF worthy career that spans over two decades, and the main point of his career that gets remembered is the streak. The streak is only really impressive as a whole, individual matches aren't as impressive, the matches collectively is where the streak gains its power. The Undertaker is a multiple time world champion, inspidered more matches then any other character, is arguably the most successful gimmick, gave glen jacobs a usable character, had a big impact at all the big 4, has had many five star matches, was a massive draw, etc, etc. But yet he is remembered for the streak before anything else.

As in the case of Andre's 15 year undefeated streak, and Goldberg's 173 - 0 streak, the streak is remembered not the loss. So a loss at this stage wouldn't be as damaging as some might think, because as history has taught us the 22 year streak will still be remembered and live on as the streak. So who would benefit? The Undertaker. The loss would actually free him from the schackles and allow him to be recognised for his entire career and not just one certain aspect.

As for who would benefit from beating him. The only ones that would really be able to run with it would be Punk or Brock Lesna. Punk doesn't really deserve to be the one to end it, but he would be able to solidfy his top tier postion, especially if he beats The Rock at the Royal Rumble as well. Punk's move to the main event has taken years and multiple reigns to finally look like he is a main eventer, so a couple of big back to back victories will really help him hold onto that position. Brock on the other hand hasn't done much since his return and a WM victory would be helpful to keep him looking like "the next big thing". Given the history between the two thete would also be significance in a victory, on the other hand The Undertaker would benefit with a win over Brock, so either way the winner could gain from the match.

With The Rock being about for WM a Rock/Taker match could be a big match to have at WM. And a Rock victory could be huge for The Rock on a grander scale. Rock would have then beaten Hogan, Austin, Cena, and The Undertaker at WrestleMania. The significance of coure being that he would have beaten the biggest star of the kayfabe era, the (other) biggest star of the attitude era, the biggest star of the entertainment era, and the man to hold the World title in all three eras. He would have also beaten the two front runners for the Mr. WrestleMania title in Hogan and Undertaker. Which puts him in very good standing for taking the Mr. WM title himself.

So who would benefit? Actually, it's The Rock.
