This pic originated from an article questioning whether CM Punk was the modern Bruno Sammartino. That article made me vomit, but my focus is on this picture which shows the great, triumphant, well fought and tested Bruno Sammartino holding the WWWF title on the left to a skinny, tatted, unathletic looking CM Punk with a massive head and small body on the right.
That's what the image of a WWE champion deteriorated to before the Rock won the belt back. Just look at that disgusting sight. No wonder the Olympics dropped wrestling! That repulsive sight of CM Punk symbolises the 21st century person; lazy, the lack of effort people put into their appearance when they go out, the unhygenic look that many people think is cool, the lack of value put into what they're supposed to be. I watch youtube clips of people, and in the background I see that their damn beds aren't made up, or the house is a mess, or the damn dishes aren't washed and put away. I see people who just got up and they didn't make the effort to wash their face, btrush their teeth, take a shower, put on a fresh change of clothes. But what comes out of their mouth is twice as revolting, they whine about their circumstances, they complain that someone took their job, that they weren't promoted, that they haven't got the break they needed. WELL OF COURSE ALL OF THAT HAPPENED TO YOU! YOUR ASS JUST GOT UP AT 2PM AND THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS GET ON YOUTUBE TO CRY ABOUT IT WHEN YOU SHOULD'VE BEEN UP AT THE CRACK OF DAWN LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITY!! That's what I gather from looking at this filthy tripe of a CM Punk photo, and how inferior he looks next to the Living Legend. *HUCKPTOOEY @ CM Punk*

It's not that bad. Could he put on some muscle? Yes, he should but this is all really just silly.
Violence Just Got Sexy
Yeah Shockage I know you hate Punk but this is taking it a bit too far.

Punk looks like a despicable maggot. Take some pride in his profession don't he! Don't wander from the tradition that pro wrestlers are athletically built for combat. The only twats who look like they got out of bed are the indy and backyard twerps.
I guess they should like mini hulks then aye shockage

You don't have to be a mini hulk to look like a wrestler, look at HBK, Bret, Pillman, Koko B Ware, Lawler, Bill Dundee. CM Punk should have some self respect and remember that it's his job to sell wrestling, and he's not doing it with that poofter physique of his, and if anyone thinks that "looks don't matter", then you're stupid for thinking that wrestlers shouldn't be looking like they have to be built for combat.

The comparison between Bruno/Punk would also work for Austin/Punk and Hogan/Punk and you would come up with the same outcome. I remember when people were calling Punk the next Steve Austin because of his 'pipe bomb' promo. I knew he wouldn't reach that level based on the differences that the characters stood for. The Stone Cold character was about principle and sticking up for yourself, not hop on the mic and complain about what you didn't have. Austin and CM Punk led very different cultures, one culture was based on 20th century working values, the other culture was based on 21st century entitlement and being a dick to anyone that didn't share your philosophies.
A really stupid , obnoxious post this . Maybe Shockage should start up a new forum discussing mens bodies and how they look instead of having a wrestling forum . Seems he enjoys talking about the anatomy of a male quite a bit ....worrying . Its about the show these guys put on in the ring and on the mike . Punk excels at both . Its pro wrestling , not a beauty contest .
And honestly speaking, CM Punk is not even skinny! Neither is he lazy. Have you ever looked at his damn calves? They are bigger than Bully Ray's calves for sure! And if you look at Punk's matches from his early career, you will notice that he has actually put on about 30 pounds of muscle since then. I know you have a fetish for muscular manly bodies, but please take that obsession somewhere else. I bet he is one of the tougher guys in the current WWE locker room!

If it was only based on the look of somebody's body , I'm sure Vince would have made Sable WWE champion a long time back . Plus , do you think Mick Foley looked the part ? How about Terry Funk ?
This is what sets the wrestling fans who use their eyes and ears from the fantasy poofter efedders who don't pay consideration to the body, the science of wrestling, and how important this key element is. I will be back after dinner to present my thesis.

Anyway ..... Mick Foley had the right build of a hardcore wrestler, and that's where he shined. Terry Funk in his prime (not in later years which I think you're judging him by which is really dumb) was the same build as Bockwinkel, Backlund, Flair and in the areas where Funk excelled, they catered towards that genre. CM Punk is not in that league. At best CM Punk is an upper midcarder, and he probably would've been more successful in the original ECW had Paul Heyman got his hands on him to really mold Punk and hide his flaws. Now, I know nobody wants to read the truth, but tough bickies, get over it. #Boots2Asses
Poeple can talk about Bret, Shawn, Jericho an co being smaller guys... but they still had bigger physiques than Punk.
Punk looks scrawny... thats the issue. When he wrestled the Rock, it looked as though Punk was a normal guy plucked from the audience.
I know times have changed and wrestlers don't need those roided physiques had in the 1980s ... but I think they should at least look like wrestlers.
Guys like Ziggler, Zach Ryder, Kofi Kingston are billed as being less than 220 ppunds (which would have made them Cruiserweights in past times) still have wrestler physiques.
There has always been a sharp trend in the WWE... when the big physiques go... business sharply declines.
This happened during the steroid scandals from 1992-95 (remember when Randy Savage used to cover his torso to hide his smaller chest?)... because casual fans sometiems watch wresling to see larger than life characters... giants amongst men that they wouldn't see elsewhere
Punk's body looks even more puny because of his massive head
I think that's total bull.....really . And this entire thread is completely ridiculous . This business is about work ethic ,charisma, it's about how good you are on the mike , how well you get over as a heel or as a face and generally how good you work in the ring . Yes , the look plays a part also but is not essential , unlike the qualities mentioned earlier . Ok , forget the Hogan days ......he was the exception . One of very few athletes who could get over big style without been able to work a decent match. Ultimate Warrior is another exception . This business is about entertaining . Its not about how good or bad your body is . If that was the case Vince's WBF federation wouldn't have went out of business and we'd still be talking about The Narcissist Lex Luger and Narcissusmania.
How long was Ric Flair still champ and still over with the fans when he actually needed a bra to support his tits ? How long were we watching Hogan compete and generate great heel heat and get really over with the fans , despite saggy boobs and a beer belly . And again , Mankind was one of the most popular athletes of the Attitude Era , but lets face it , he looked like crap so much , they gave him a mask . And don't use the 'hardcore' excuse . It makes you sound like your contradicting yourself .
You're right to an extent, but you're wrong about CM Punk as he doesn't have the right blend. You're also wrong with your analogy as you foolishly believe that great work ethic, charisma and mic skills should automatically lead to a World Title reign. That's the idiocy that a lot of 'wrestling' fans have when they assume that the 'best worker' should be the World Champion, and it's that kind of ignorance that blocks 'wrestling' minds like Jim Cornette from succeeding. The problem with your theory is that the masses aren't going to accept. You need that aura that Bruno, Hogan, Rock, Austin had, but you also have to LOOK THE PART for everything to fall into place. Thank you for your time, I'll bill you.
Well I feel like we have this discussion way too often but I'll just repeat what I always say...
Actors all come in different shapes and sizes. Big muscular ones sometimes play comedic roles and average looking schmoes sometimes play total bad-asses. If any of you are familiar with Robert Knepper, he's the guy who played T-Bag in Prison Break which is a show that mainly took place in jails. He was pretty much the shortest scrawniest looking actor on the show and easily the most intimidating due to his excellent acting. This was a show with tons of big jacked up guys on set.
In MMA even the lower weight classes are sometimes the most exciting for people to watch. And just in case I hear that this is a physique thing, not a size issue, well then look no further than Roy Nelson. The guy has got a gut a mile long and even an ugly beard/mullet combo. Yet he's one of the most exciting acts in UFC. No matter how much trouble he makes, Dana still keeps him around.
Finally even in wrestling itself, we saw Jeff Hardy surprise everyone by reaching the level of John Cena in popularity and merch sales. Clearly people don't care about physiques to such a degree that it would hinder a wrestler from being perceived as a main eventer. What people care about is if your good and the company does a decent job booking you.
Better to have a light physique like Punks and be able to work good long matches, then gas up after five minutes like a Ryback is my opinion.
The Rock may possess a physique of a Greek God, but he doesn't possess the stamina required to have a 20 minute physical match inside the ring. CM Punk carried him through the last 2 title matches. Punk actually made The Rock look good in the ring.
And anyways, The Rock juiced up big time. Anyone who trains here knows that his physique is simply impossible to attain naturally. Atleast Punk looks like an average gym goer. People of my generation need heroes with whom we could relate to. That's why guys like CM Punk are so over with the IWC.

I think CM Punk looks just as bad when by the end of a 20 minute match he's sweating profusely in a condition where he looks like he just finished taking a shower. Also be mindful that the Rock's 41 years of age, he's 6'5 and well over 250 pounds, he didn't have stamina problems when he was a fully active. So naturally, the man will get gassed up. If the Rock had the time to get back into top shape, he could; and we know that. This is the guy who played college football and went through the rigorous training.
Personally , Shock , I get the impression from you that you hate the business ......... the business TODAY that is . Yes , we all miss the Attitude Era and the days when there were not just one , but several , world famous superstars on a roster . Well , unfortunately those days are gone but most of us still have the love of the game because of what it is . Bashing existing superstars because of their look , or because of their lack of fancy catchphrases we can sing along with doesnt bring back the days gone by . We should still respect the guys that still bust their ass for us , while others have forsaken us for EVEN bigger paychecks .
Still , I' m curious . After Wrestlemania , what will you do ? What will you do when Rock goes back to making movies , when Jericho goes back to Fozzy , Triple H goes back to making babies with Stephanie Mc Mahon and Brock Lesnar returns to MMA ? And when there may be an Undertaker at this years event , what then ? Will you just keep bashing the talent and talk about the days gone by , like an old man in a rocking chair . Because this is not about Punk really is it? This is about the dissapointment you have for the busy today . It's not about Rock v Punk .
