Default Donald Trump to Be Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

    Source: WrestleView.com

WWE.com is reporting that Donald Trump will be the next inductee into the Class of 2013 WWE Hall of Fame this year during Wrestlemania 29 weekend. The ceremony will take place on 4/6 inside Madison Square Garden along with Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bob Backlund and Trish Stratus. Vince McMahon is quoted in the article adding, "Donald is a global icon whose status brought an unmatched level of publicity and grandeur to WWE."

Trump is also quoted in the article noting his involvement with WWE at Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit back in 2007. Trump added, "It was literally the thrill of a lifetime performing in front of 80,000 enthusiastic fans during the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ match at WrestleMania 23. I’ve always enjoyed and respected WWE’s brand of entertainment and look forward to the ceremony in my hometown at Madison Square Garden."

WWE is expected to cover Trump's induction tonight during RAW.

This is the token celebrity name that doesn't belong.

Shame... as the lineup had looked very impressive with Bruno, Backlund, Foley and Trish.

Seriously what did he do he was pathetic during that storyline with Vince in the battle of the billionare's the best part of that storyline was both rich boys getting a stunner and Vince getting his head shaved.

The Battle of The Billionaires was partially responsible for I think the biggest WrestleMania buyrate before Rock returned, so if non-wrestlers can be inducted this is well deserved.

I've always been against certain celebrities who are obviously just there for the money I have no problem with a Mike Tyson or Mr T going in.

Thats the key point 'if non-wrestlers can be inducted' .... which as we know they are... and there is one celebrity induction per year.
What I was getting at was the first 4 names were well deserved.... in fact Bruno and Backlund were long overdue!
I was thinking... are we going to have a year where every person is deserving? That would be a first! (though deep down I was waiting for the Celeb inductee to prevent that from happening)

I would say that Trump desereves it more than someone like Pete Rose... but less so than Mike Tyson.
(Tyson didn't just bump up the number for 1 PPV .... the momentum and mainstream exposure that Austin picked up totally changed the fortune of the company)

The Battle of the Billionaires was partially responsible for me and my friends walking around Ford Field carrying signs that said "Support Communism. Watch WWE," "I hate WWE-tards," and "Batista fears drug tests" The things I remember most about the crappy angle were Trump couldn't even remember Lashleys name when he was doing a radio interview to hype the show, and it ultimately led to Vince McMahon holding the "ECW" title.

The thing that I'm really wondering is how Bruno feels about being inducted in the same ceremony as a guy who never wrestled a match in his life. I remember Bruno saying in several interviews that one of his biggest problem with Vince is the fact that Vince will bring in celebrities, who "have nothing to do with wrestling," and pay them, and treat them way better than the wrestlers that brought the crowd in.

I'm surprised at how negative this response has been. Trump hosted two of the first five WrestleManias and was involved in two other WrestleManias. Trump appeared on WWE TV more than any other celebrity in the HOF as well. Honestly, he's the best choice for a Celebrity inductee this year, especially with WrestleMania being in New Jersey this year.

You'll get this kind of reaction no matter what celebrity you put in the Hall of Fame. I, along with many others, think it devalues the Hall of Fame to put celebrities in it. It would be like the NFL putting Kid Rock in their Hall of Fame because he performed during a bunch of half time shows.

Well you know what they say about the WWE HOF. You won't see Mike Tyson or Donald Trump in the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame but the WWE has more media centered around theirs. But personally Trump was very involved with the WWE, especially WrestleMania so this induction doesn't bother me at all.

I'm not a fan of this idea, but, I could at least see why Vince would want him in the Hall of Fame. It's still kind of lame, but, at least it's not some completely random, "What the heck? Has he even been in the WWE before? Has he ever even seen a WWE/F show?"

Does anybody else think Donald Trump should be required to publicly release copies of his birth certificate and school transcripts before he gets inducted into the Hall of Fame?
