From the Kingdom of Tonga comes 2 year pro Lei'D Tapa. Lei'D Tapa is the niece of the Barbarian, who was one half of the Powers of Pain and the Faces of Fear tag teams. I hadn't heard of Lei'D Tapa until last week when she was introduced as a Gut Check contestant on TNA Impact Wrestling (a fantastic vehicle to showcase unknowns to the international television audience). There isn't much information available online about Tapa's background, but going by her Gut Check match against Ivelisse Velaz, Tapa is a naturally big and powerful girl who uses her attributes very well and realistically. Don't be surprised by Tapa's wealth of size and strength, this isn't a rarity in female Polynesian genes. Tapa (as far as I know) is the 3rd Pacific Island female to break into pro wrestling behind GLOW alumnus Mount Fiji and WWE Diva Tamina Snuka. These girls of large, athletic, exotic, Polynesian stature are excelling in all sporting fields from basketball, to netball to shot put, it was only a matter of time before they would join the wrestling profession.

Tapa plays up the traditional Island savage gimmick, her key signature moves like the Samoan Drop, the Barbarian style mafia kick and the choke (which also looks like the Tongan Death Grip, a move popularised by Meng/Haku) further embodies her character. In spite of her towering, menacing and intimidating presence, Tapa is also a natural beauty.
